Fine. I’m not gonna wear my dirty cargo shorts today. I’ll take the effort to wear my clean ones.

Crying laughing. Beautiful stuff, Jared. Best line: “...nobody wants to put in the work. They would rather freeball in the cargo shorts.” 🤣🤣

Attended a friends wedding in Salt Lake City a number of years ago - English groom & local bride.

Groom’s side all suited & booted (& ushers in morning coats). Majority of Bride’s male contingent in golf shirts & double-pleated chinos.

BTW, we were in southern France in Sept/Oct 2019, high end area primarily with wealthy EU second homes. The restarauts and wineries were full of Brits, Germans, and French tourists/residents. We didnt' run into any Americans.

Guess what? Guys were wearing baseball caps and 'gasp' cargo shorts.

Sorry to say, but even France has gone 'Vegas'.

Like your writing, but very East Coast. Other coast, real success is a cheap running watch, or if young, a down-rev'ed iWatch. The only people wearing ties are Limo drivers. Even insecure Ivy tainted VCs are tie-less.

$250 pants don't matter if your beer belly is flopping out. And, hot chicks can't even spell Rolex but notice that that guy in shape. East Coasters, dump the $5K gold chains and hire a trainer.

I am a boomer, started working in tech in mid-70s. Fashion doesn't matter anymore. Lots of things don't. But, trying to look young/thin/rich with expensive clothes or a $10K watch has never worked.

Vegas went to hell decades ago, when the cut dress codes and build bizarre themed hotels, I agree. I use to go three times a year for tech conventions. Best place was Little Cesars, a dive casino in a strip mall. $1 Blackjack, free beer in paper cups. Tech millionaires filled the place during COMDEX and NAB. And, they were in cargo shorts....

I can relate. I moved to West Virginia a while back, just out of a divorce and NO girls were interested in this guy in a blazer and $300 dress shoes... grew a beard and put on the backwards flat-billed hat and boom - lay city.
