Also an ex-Wall Street guy here, also a writer, but most importantly: An INTJ. The rarest of Myers-Briggs vintages. Maybe that's why I dig your writing!

High caliber women select for loyalty, security and intelligence/humor. Or maybe I'm being optimistic...

Hegsheth embodies what men think women want. You nailed it. Fitness is sufficient, a specific look or build is not necessary to look good for men. The world is more cruel to women and the ugly woman with the good looking man is a Hollywood fantasy. There are plenty of good looking men around when we are young, but very few intelligent ones, and even fewer brilliant.

Physical appearance is so superficial. It may be the first thing we notice when we see someone, but as we get to know people, cheerfulness, confidence, integrity, kindness, etc., have much more to do with who we find attractive and with whom we want to associate. And if those are the things that really attract the people we want to associate with, then those are the characteristics that we should focus on developing. And the good thing is, these are things we CAN develop, with time, practice, and learning from our mistakes.

I strolled into the living room while the TV was on and saw a valley girl standing behind the podium at a press briefing during the Trump presidency.

"That's the new press secretary." said my wife.

"OMG" I thought. "The press secretary is a valley girl fur sure (tee tee)"

Then she opened her mouth. Damn! She's got a brain and she is not afraid to use it!

Kayleigh McEnany proves that

This is a great piece, it reads like a stream of consciousness but hits like a river of awareness. Subtle, I like it.

Not that it will ever happen, but I think we'd have a bang up conversation if we ever met. So many things in common (including having a face for radio, liking who we are, and being keen observers of people) and a few rather strong differences.

And substance over 'style'? For sure.

This reminds me of a similar pattern an old friend of mine wrote his MA thesis about back in the '60's: his premise was that small, backwater towns tend to produce a disproportionate share of ugly, stupid people. All the good looking ones get married off to people passing through, and all the smart ones have enough sense to leave on their own. That leaves an ugly, stupid gene pool, and guess what...
