Great thoughts. I think many struggle with finding happiness because they focus more on what brings other people joy rather than what truly brings them joy. Kind of like someone getting a job or finding a spouse that their parents wanted more than they wanted.
I had a liafelong friendship that I walked away from one day when it occurred to me; "I don't like me when I am with him." I have since learned that happiness is a choice; but joy is a fruit of the Spirit.
Thanks, Jared, for writing what I've been thinking about all these years: I love what I do and can't imagine not doing what I'm doing (I'm a money manager and financial planner). When people ask me when will I retire, I tell them, "Never! Why would I retire from doing the things I love to do day in and day out?" People sometimes look at me like this and say, "You're primarily a retirement planner but can't imagine retiring yourself?" That's 100% right! I can't imagine not doing this unless I can't mentally and physically do this, or somehow it doesn't bring me the joy (to help others) that it does now. You should want that kind of passion from any professional you hire.
Man, I love your writing style! It has so much authenticity to it. That's hard to find nowadays. When is the book coming out in paperback?
Cheers!

I think Jared is on to something when one of the two major candidates running is building her entire campaign around the theme of Joy! 🤩

This article is genius. How can one article weave together foundational truths so well with incisive commentary about our political divisions?
