I don’t remember the details, but a few years back Tom Cruise got semi-canceled for saying that filming The Edge of Tomorrow was like fighting in Afghanistan.
As a military mom I can easily say, not even close. Sure, filming is hard, then they go back to a comfy trailer. I work with veterans with PTSD and they are in a world of hurt, plus they deal with the VA.
Keanu and "over the couch" Tom Cruise are not even comparable. Cruise is very good at what he does, but the old studio system prevented idiot actors from opening their mouths and spoiling the illusion. I just can't stand to watch the guy. Keanu has one of the most sterling reputations for being a great guy, right up there with the likes of Jimmy Stewart.
Teaching the lower grades is many times rougher than in Universities right now. I don't know how they do it.

There is a lperson in your profession who has a great reputation among persons whom I respect. I have seen him at a few conferences and I am not impressed. He babbles and rambles and at some point my mind goes 'tilt!'. And he is a graduate of Harvard (barf).
Then I read an essay he recently wrote on the topic 'Ask Why am I reading this Now?' Brilliant. Now I understand and I have become a fan in spite of his post graduate education. He is not good extemporaneously; but he does very well when edited.
I retired from a government job wherein I was the token white boy. I learned how to gracefully navigate the office politics and left with the respect of my peers. You are right: the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
God I LOVE your writing!!! As I was reading I noticed I was smiling as I was reading. Such a joy. I have a best friend (actually the best man at my wedding) texts me with his friends giving me the finger saying "Go Fuck Yourself." I do it back to him. I'm glad it is back.
Speaking of jobs, I just started working again after taking 18 months off (my own business selling classy pinups and art nudes from the 60's and 70's. You can see the images at tittweet.com) I have to look at beautiful nudes all day editing a few and selling them on eBay and my own site which I won't won't say because this is not a plug for my business. I go to webmaster shows in adult (Xbiz and AVN) where the current adult porn stars are at. I plan on doing the one's in Europe. But I'll be honest, in the past it was arduous and hard because I needed the money and it was harder to make when I needed it. Sometimes it is arduous now, but I try to learn something new (writing website code, using automation to edit hundreds of pictures etc). Now, I really enjoy it as I plan on doing fun things with it including taking b&w photography film of today's models and having pay sites and photo sites. I'll be honest... your essay Lazy Lazy was an inspiration to get my life back in order. Thank you... I mean "Go fuck yourself."
