One of your best.

Not much to add to that. Pretty succinct.

Glad you included the spiritual aspect. Not easy being a priest, let alone a monk. But the focus is on running toward, not from.

That's a distinction with a difference.

But easy for me. I never got the call.

Love your passion, Jared.

I'm 73 and what you wrote is even more poignant and relevant. If you think you have racing thoughts at 50 at night, wait till you're older. Still have not figured it out, prolly never will. Sigh.

Have you read what David Lynch had to say about Meditation? If you find the time to meditate twice a day for 20 minutes you will find he was absolutely bang on. Your trading, writing, and DJing will all mysteriously and wonderfully get better and better in ways you can't even imagine today.

Excellent. Eckhart Tolle's book 'The Power of Now' is an insightful and poweful book on this topic. He says 'You are not your mind'. His book has helped me detach from the incessant flow of thoughts when required, and has made me happier in the process.

I don’t know who said it, but create a life that you don’t need to escape from. I’m working on it.

Well done, as always. Norm MacDonald was THE BEST!

Wonderful piece. Your brutal honesty is brave and rare. This is the war in our head that we all fight. It's a necessary fact of life that it's a constant battle in order to grow and hopefully move toward becoming one with the world (towards selflessness). One of the ironies is that the only true happy place is within, the very place we have a tendency to avoid.

This is beautiful, and for me, it's racing on a sailboat. I absolutely cannot think of anything else while doing that.

Everyone s addicted to shit in their head. Reality isnt just what we cannot change, but what we can. Why run from it, when we can make it. I pray before and after sleep, because it works better than drugs and is cheaper. Meditation and breathing are free high. Thanks for sharing your journey. 🙏😎

I really enjoyed this. I used to have racing thoughts, but I did start meditation a few years back and I just started taking singing lessons and my first lesson is simply breathing and that has become my focus when I meditate (different from my previous breathing foundation as it is a specific breathing technique).

I have a lot more mental awareness than ever! I don’t meditate long… maybe 20 minutes at a clip…but sometimes 4-5 times a day…especially as I lean to sing and breathe properly singing.

But I can understand how you have to be doing stuff…to occupy your mind from racing thoughts… It’s amazing how the brain works and the tricks we have to do in order to “get by”

It’s great to be alone in you’re thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

Wow Jared!!! What an epiphany !!

The work feels like cross between Flannery O’Conner and Hunter S. Thompson…Just completely Excellent.

I don’t think you are running From Anything…My Take is you are running Towards a Meaningful Life.

Think this TV Commercial from Virgin Airlines might make you Think & Smile/Laugh.

***FYI… I had a Christian Brother teacher at Chaminade HS on Long Island back in the early 70’s … He quit the order and ran away with my Baby Sitter!!!! ( who was Smokin’ Hot!!)

I swear it’s true!!! TG might have heard about this legendary tale when he attended the school.

I'm reminded of Robert Monroe, author of the out-of-body series. He referred to life on earth as being addictive and predatory by design-the "Earth Life System". Love is freedom, earth is school.
