I’ve mentioned in passing a few times in the past that I was compiling these essays into a book.
That book is here.
It’s called THOSE BASTARDS: 69 Essays on Life, Creativity, and Meaning, and it’s currently for sale at Amazon.
First, a little background.
We’re Gonna Get Those Bastards started out as a school project. I was taking a class called Writing For Digital Communication and the main project for the class was a blog.
I wanted to write a blog with essays on finance, music, culture, and sex, whose essays were good enough as standalone pieces. After doing this for a few months, I decided I could make it into a book.
You might remember that 59 of the essays that I wrote here on Substack are in the book. But there are an additional 10 that have never been published before, including some really good ones.
I suppose you could sit there at your computer and click through most of them and get 85% of the book, but that would be tedious, and a physical book is a nice thing to have. You can put it on your shelf and recommend it to other people.
The thing I like about THOSE BASTARDS is that it is really a guide to living—with some funny moments along the way. I’ve lived a lot in 49 years, and I wanted to pass on my accumulated wisdom to others.
So I strongly recommend you get the book. And I recommend you get at least two copies—one for you, one to give to someone else. Even more if you have the money—get 5, get 10, hand them out to friends. They will thank you later. But don’t just get one.
So here is the link to buy THOSE BASTARDS: 69 Essays on Life, Creativity, and Meaning:

Add it to your cart lustily, and press the buy button with conviction.
In the meantime, I’m still cranking on this blog, and will one day publish essay collection number two.
Thanks for all the support!
With much gratitude,
Jared
