Here is my two cents. I think you are a great author. I have read all 6 of your books and will read the next one. Here’s the honest assessment- I am a niche reader and you are a niche author. Be true to yourself and don’t worry about how many books you sell (you have other sources of income), otherwise you’ll just put out the same drivel that everyone else does. All the evil of this world is still one of the greatest books I’ve ever read. Don’t compromise.

Comedy is every bit as bad, if not worse.

I think the first time I learned that the New York Times bestseller list was not, in fact, a list of bestsellers, but just another front in the culture war, my head almost exploded. Now I mostly just expect this to be true of everything.

The whole scene is corrupted anyways Gavin Newsom’s political action committee spent over $1.5 million to purchase approximately 67,000 copies of his book, which was two-thirds of the book's total print sales. So he’s a bestseller. And obviously it’s not a victimless crime bc someone else (possibly you) got bumped from the list for him. The book publishing industry is hopelessly corrupt.

This is also effectively money laundering (which the publishing and art industries are also famous for)

How about Don Jr’s Magnum Opus? Look for the Dagger in the NYT bestseller list to see who really has retail sales as opposed to bulk buys…

A straight, white, rich, conservative, ex-Wall Street, ex-military male? YOU, my friend, are the enemy! :>)

You're not just discirminated against because you're a libertarian but because you're a straight white male. I spent years at writers conferences and met many literary agents and editors from publishing houses, and I can say with confidence that the publishing industry is one of the most woke places you can imagine. The same goes for the NYT, of course. I remember a writers conference for children's books where an NYC editor berated a woman that her tribal fantasy novel was "cultural appropriation." She told another woman—who was writing a lovely little picture book about children of different races living in peace and harmony—that her "white privilege was showing." It's honestly a miracle that you ever got a book deal with a traditional publishing house. I guess it's easier for business books, but still.

You are an excellent writer and I admire you, too. Already pre-ordered your book. It is the burden of artists to suffer in isolation and to feel ignored. Maybe you’ll be famous after you die, but what good does that do you? In our circle, you are already famous. Have a great day!

Already preordered the shit out of it. Got extras as gifts. I am looking forward to this one, especially as the portfolio has done so much for our results, but I don't want to give advice directly. Maybe you can go viral.

Just purchased Night Moves (new, not used) and No Worries. All the Evil was one of the most unique books I’ve read. Keep em coming!

At least you’ve always taken the action to actually write the books. You follow through and FINISH! How many say “as soon as I finish my book…”

It is an admirable quality… a quality I wish I had more of. For me, it’s if I reach someone and possibly change the wrong path they were on to a better path (ie bad addiction that is overcome) is more important than any title.

Reading “Lazy lazy” was one that I fall back on and reread when I’m stuck. To me that’s better than any NYTimes best seller list

That excerpt you shared of that magazine’s mission statement that highlights work of non-white made no mention of communism, though you criticized the magazine for it. And I love your content, but I don’t think the crocodile tears are very becoming when you described yourself as rich multiple times. You sure beat those odds stacked against you as a straight white man!

Nothing digital? Was there supposed to be a / at the end of your post? Our book club would be like shooting fish in a barrel if my wife wasn’t a member and the hottest 68 yo large genome person in the group of 20+ all large genome but me and a random other guy. The books we pick are, except for Sink The Rising Sun, all chick books. No Chuck Palahniuk.

I was in a book club and got bored with the books they were choosing. They were not fluffy enough for true entertainment, nor did they want to read anything hard. I would love a book club with true variety.
