I bought into a telecom company in 2006 bought a house on the water in Jupiter Florida. Rickie Fowler and now Kate Upton would be my neighbors had I stayed there. I got greedy and lost everything… except my relationships and my collection of 60’s and 70’s girly film. Greed nearly killed me. So when I sell my film, I’m content. I wanted nice things. I would like to buy my condo that has a view of the ocean and 2 mile of undeveloped ocean front land to the south of me… almost no one has that kind of view. You can even ride horses on the beach south of me…for $70. I again wish I owned…But my landlord doesn’t want to sell…
I’d rather be Nick Cage in NJ in Family Man than Wall St Arb guy. Health is the first wealth… I have that. Time is the second and I try to live the best life with that time…my Fitbit does the trick on seeing what time it is.
Jared, I admire your writing…your travel… your hard work … your desire to help others… I’ve never seen a person work so hard and I feel you really have everything now. I like quoting Wall St. 2 … when asked to a very wealthy WallSt. guy…what he wanted and his answer was “more.” After your house is paid off as I know that is important to you in an Awesome Portfolio way, do your music that you love… Time is not guaranteed! Great stuff Jared!! I just don’t get the hate on Elon and anyone who makes a ton of money building things. I just finished Elon’s biography. What ever you think of him, if even half of it is accurate, he’s earned every penny as mostly no one is willing to do what he did to get it.
arguably, the proof that wanting more money is universal is that every socialist out there, AOC, Bernie, Mahmdani, all live in the lap of luxury. Now their idea is to take your money, not do something inventive to make their own, but they want it bad, probably more than you or me
Bogle's whole philosophy was charging low fees and giving back to us through higher long term returns. Active managers charge high fees and most perform below the index especially long term. Vote Bogle for president.
Hard to argue with a classic Rolex. In 2007 I made a nice windfall, and considered a new Daytona for ~$10k. Didn't buy it for the same reason, "irresponsible". That same watch today new is $35-40k assuming you can find one at MSRP. They appreciate over time and you can pass them down to your kids. Still kicking myself over that one...

I love my Seiko Titanium solar diver watch. Money is awesome, at the very least I consider it to be a battery to power my lifestyle when not working. I want to fish, hunt, pick blueberries for pleasure not necessity. And fuck commies. :)

When then Apostle Paul wrote that he believed the love of money was the root of all evil I believe he was referring to hoarding more than achieving. This is a reflection on Jesus' question 'What profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul'.
Case in point: Vladimir Putin is said to be the richest man in the world and so what? What can he do with his money? He can't go to some playground without getting arrested. He has to hire a team of bodyguards to protect him. It looks to me like he is in prison.

So what "reasonable" watches to you own? I agree, would need to have way more money than I'd ever need to consider purchases like those you mentioned.
