My litmus test in my life has been asking myself if I would regret/not regret doing something later in my life. It drives much of what I do. Best part of the essay for me.
Awesome...keep it up, Jared. So much good music is underground or never heard by most people. I like Indy stuff; I'm a big Matt Pond fan, who I think is writing some of the best music today, yet not "popular".

You starting to learn to produce music now instead of at 70 is music to my ears!!! (70 was your original retirement age you mentioned … now 65… do I hear 60 with a touch of the biweekly Dirtnap newsletter…)
Just do the music for the love… that’s all. I started playing guitar again… I’m taking singing lessons… Much of the good music I wrote are for coffee shops rather than bars. I’m not going to make money on it… but I have one song people love… that one I’m recording… and it is to reach them… a life lesson.
I’m glad it went down to 65 from 70. I’m hoping to see a note someday where the Daily Dirtnap is going down to 2-3 times a week… after you pay off your house… and just do your music you are so passionate about!
You know that age is just a number. As long as you are still enjoying the idea and learning and producing new stuff, there is no reason why you can’t accomplish your dreams. Grecian Formula for Men and some time in the spa can dull your age appearance, so as long as you have the energy and drive to do something, then go for it. You have already done so much more than most people, the sky is your limit
